Centralizing Academic Advising and Collaboration, CCHE600

This paper was a critical essay on how Northern Arizona University’s (NAU) academic advising could improve student services to enhance student success in the area of academic advising. From work experience as an academic advisor at NAU and the Maricopa County Community College District, I provided recommendations for improving NAU’s academic advising services by recommending best practices. Some recommendations were: a centralized academic advising system to ensure students have similar services and college advising departments are implementing best practices and a standard Academic Advising Handbook and Academic Advising syllabus all advising departments.

From research, three standardized leadership surveys and class assignments, this paper explains my leadership style. It explains an action plan to improve my leadership skills and examples of organizational diversity issues I’ve experienced and how I approached and resolved those issues. This paper also includes my plan to apply leadership principles to overcome diversity and ethics challenges in an organizational setting. I posted this paper because it is an aspect of my leadership style and how I expect to continue to grow, learn and apply leadership principles for self-improvement and professional growth.
