ACADEMIC ADVISOR
June 2012-October 2018
I advised students online and in-person at Northern Arizona University on academic credit, grade transfer processes and other academic procedures as they related to the student’s program of study. I explain degree requirements, monitor academic progress, determine eligibility and satisfactory progress toward degree. I maintained degree program information, including catalog changes, and academic department policies and updates. I support and provide resources for student success and participate in outreach, recruitment and retention efforts.
Student Services Specialist
June 2003 - May 2006
I managed the International Student Office at GateWay Community College. I assessed student services for cultural competency. Program coordination duties included developing, implementing and monitoring programs that promoted and sustained diversity, inclusion, equity and respect. I ensured international students adhered to visa regulations and provided customer service to 600 international students (F-1 visa, refugees, and undocumented status) representing 40 countries. I managed the office and student staff payroll and trained student services staff on diversity and inclusion.
Academic Advisor, Recruitment and Outreach
August 2008-May 2012
I was designated Spanish speaking Advisor and provided one-stop services for students in the areas of Admissions, Financial Aid, Academic Advising/Enrollment and New Student Orientation at the Maricopa Community Colleges. I Trained new Advising staff and coordinated recruitment visits, managed travel logistics, and supervised student staff. I attended college fairs and conducted monthly high school visits for recruitment and outreach efforts. I conducted campus tours and workshops for student success orientation.
Human Resources Work Flow Coordinator, W. L. Gore & Associates
I served as Work Flow Coordinator for W.L. Gore and Associates (Gore), serving as the primary point of contact for providing solutions to Human Resources (HR) needs for North America (U.S.A, Mexico, South America,and Canada), along with Work Flow Coordinators in Asia and Europe. My role included identifying and participating in continuous efforts to improve services, organizational effectiveness and support change initiatives to increase the effectiveness of HR systems and processes. I provided oversight of program operations to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished. I also managed the data management system for cases and participation tracking. Other duties include working with domestic and international cross functional teams.
